Arkansas Tech University’s study abroad program is in full swing as the restrictions from COVID-19 have finally been lifted.

There are several trips planned for spring of 2023 including Spain, Morocco, Canada, London, Portugal and France. These are faculty-led trips and typically range from one to four weeks. The university also offers long-term study abroad options for students looking to stay an entire semester. Locations for long-term trips include Japan, Spain, Austria and Germany. Students planning to stay longer than a few weeks should consider studying the language of the place they will be living.

Trip costs vary across the trip length and where students will be studying. Students who may want to study at another university also have the option of the National Student Exchange program. This program allows students to study-away at another university within the United States.

“Just forgoing that $5 cup of coffee a day for three months will save a lot of money that could pay for part of a study abroad trip, Gabriel Haulmark, study abroad coordinator, said.

“The cup of coffee that students may enjoy at an outdoor café in Paris, France, will be worth the sacrifice.”

Scholarships are also available on the Tech website for students. The deadlines for these scholarship are Dec. 1, 2022, and March. 1, 2023.

Haulmark said students are also encouraged to look at the World Endeavors internship and volunteer opportunities as well as the National Student Exchange Program.
