Arkansas Tech Golden Suns basketball defeats the Oklahoma Baptist Bison 80-75 in their home game on Feb. 7. This allowed them to maintain their tie with Harding for first place in the Great American Conference.
The first half was slow for the Golden Suns. They trailed 41-28 at the halftime mark. This was caused by foul trouble and not shooting the ball particularly well.
The second half picked up more of that Golden Suns speed, turning into a battle near the end. Both teams kept the game close, with ATU managing to tie it up with a fastbreak.
In overtime the Golden Suns were able to show their depth and tenacity on their shot selection and defensive pressure. They were able to foul out two Bison players and knock down their free throws down the stretch to secure the victory.
The Golden Suns return to action on Monday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m. inside Tucker Coliseum. Their opponent will be the Cotton Blossoms of the University of Arkansas-Monticello. This is a rescheduled game from the winter weather previously this year.
