Parking at Arkansas Tech University can be confusing and challenging, but understanding the rules can help you avoid both frustration and citations.
All parking regulations, permit information, and the official parking map are available on the ATU Public Safety Parking Information page. The parking map found on their website shows which lots correspond to each permit color, helping you know exactly where you can and cannot park. You may even find new spots in your color that you did not know about.
Students can charge their parking permits directly to their OneTech student accounts. If you receive a citation, you have three days from the date it was issued to submit an appeal through OneTech.
Appeals are available for students who believe they were unfairly ticketed, or who have evidence that supports their case (such as proof of a valid permit). Students with no previous violations and a valid permit meet the criteria for an appeal. Each appeal is reviewed by the university’s Traffic and Parking Appeals Committee, made up of students from various organizations.
Common reasons for citations include reusing an old permit, failing to display a current permit, parking in the wrong color zone, and parking in a non-parking area. Knowing these common violations can help you avoid future tickets.
It is also important to remember that open parking hours do not apply to residence hall lots, visitor spaces, disabled parking, or 15-minute spots – tickets can still be written in those areas, even during open parking.
