The Arkansas Tech Wonder Boys dominated the Northwestern Oklahoma State University Rangers 44-0 at their home game. The Wonder Boys were great in all three phases of the game: offense, defense, and special teams.
The offense got off to a fast start. The first play was a 63-yard touchdown from running back Bryson Roland, #25. This was Roland’s first collegiate touchdown.
The Wonder Boys ended up averaging 6.7 yards per carry on the rushing attack with a total of 174 yards rushing, however the passing attack was the real star of the show. They got three touchdowns from the passing game and had a total of 216 yards with an average of 7.7 yards per play.
While the offense was great, the defense also had its time to shine. While posting a shutout, ATU had two interceptions that went for touchdowns. Both came in the fourth quarter to put the exclamation point on the game. The first one came from defensive back Diego Sanchez, #19, for 38 yards, and the second one came from defensive back Tyrique Jones, #4, for 66 yards.
The special teams had their hand on the game as well. They had an average of 30 yards per punt. The field goal team made one of two field goals to help the team.
The Wonder Boys play again next week, traveling down to Arkadelphia to take on the Ouachita Tigers, who already have one loss on their season. The game will be at Cliff Harris Stadium and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
