On Nov. 15, the Wonder Boys took on the No. 2-ranked Harding Bison but lost 47-13. However, freshman Bryson Roland achieved something that has not happened since 2015 by claiming 1,000 rushing yards.
Harding is known for their ball control and ability to limit opposing teams’ offensive possessions. However, ATU was able to keep the score relatively close with a score of 17-7 at halftime with Harding leading.
The Bison were able to start off the second half strong with two touchdowns, putting them up 31-7. ATU fought back, scoring their own touchdown to make the score 31-13. Unfortunately, Harding was able to grab two more touchdowns, making the final score 47-13.
Despite the loss, the Wonder Boys finished the season with a 7-4 record. This was the first winning season since 2017, giving Head Coach Roy Thompson something to build on. This also puts the Wonder Boys in a possible conversation for a DII bowl bid depending on who makes the NCAA Playoffs.
The Wonder Boy’s final game of the 2025 season will be on Dec. 6 at West Texas A&M at noon.
