The Student Activities Board started out the Fall semester with the Paint War. This event was held at the Intramural Fields on Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. The event had a considerable turnout, with the field full of enthusiastic students ready to commemorate the end of a hectic first few weeks of classes.

The Student Activities Board aims to engage students by getting them involved and out of their comfort zone, and this event did exactly that. It did not matter if paint hit you on the shirt, legs, hair, or face: SAB made sure that having fun was all that mattered.

When asked about his experience, Lucas Brown, a freshman journalism major from Lamar stated, “It was very wild, colorful, and fast-paced.”

Maggie Boundra, a freshman nursing major said, “It reminded me of ‘Colors of the Wind’ from the movie Pocahontas, because of the visual representation of opportunity.”

Some students stated, “you just had to be there,” to describe the event. Others saw it as more of a competition or video game, aiming to win.

JoAndy Granados, a freshman health and exercise science major said, “It was cold, and the lights were completely out. I didn’t know when I was going to be hit. It felt like I was in a game of Airsoft.”

Everyone that went to the event got a different experience out of it, yet they were united by paint. Whether it was positive memory with friends, or getting out of their comfort zone, students were brought together, yet again, by SAB.
