The Arkansas Tech University’s Golden Suns volleyball team beat the East Central Tigers from Ada, Oklahoma in three sets on Friday, Oct. 24. This win put ATU at 9-2 in the Great American Conference, tying with Harding University for second.
The Golden Suns’ win was possible due to their lead in points, kills, aces, assists, and digs. While all three sets were competitive, the Golden Suns were able to pull ahead at the end.
The first set was the closest one with a 10-point tie. ATU was able to take the lead and keep it while ECU tried to follow suit. The Golden Suns would eventually kill any momentum from the Tigers and finish off the set 25-20.
The second set was similar, with the Golden Suns allowing the Tigers to get within two points before getting into a rhythm and taking the set 25-17.
ATU slipped in the third set, allowing ECU to get just one point behind at 16-15. However, they got back to it, scoring four straight points. The Tigers scored two more points, but it was not enough to fend off the Golden Suns’ five-point run, winning the last set with a score of 25-18.
The Golden Suns’ next game is Tuesday, Oct. 30th against Henderson State. The first serve will be at 6 p.m.
