Norman Hall Art Gallery is hosting the Game and Interactive Media Showcase through Wednesday, March 13. The exhibit, which hosts five playable game demos and two televisions showcasing various animations and game concepts, is open on weekdays and is free for the public to attend.

“Mushzoom” is a 2.5D side scrolling platformer wherein players control a small mushroom that collects coins and evades danger. “Thread the Needle” is a 2D platformer in which players control a mouse that must fight enemies to progress. “Pandemonium” is a 3D shooter where players must destroy waves of enemies to achieve a high score. “Burger World” is a 2D platformer where players must avoid dangerous kitchen equipment and ingredients to reach the end of various levels. “No Kitty Can Hear You Meow In Space” is a fully 3d platformer where players must collect coins and platform their way through various levels.

Each playable demo is a short teaser, allowing exhibit visitors to play through every game entirely without the arduous task of finishing a long run.

“I think it’s really inspiring that all of these projects put into perspective what a single person or small group of people can create. Usually, a studio with many employees makes these games, but it’s nice to see that people can make fun games without many resources,” Chris Berry, a game and interactive media major from Russellville, said.

The Game and Interactive Media Senior Showcase began in 2019 to allow seniors of the then-recently implemented game and interactive media design program to showcase their final projects to the public.

“I have no experience making games, but the ones displayed at the exhibit were simple and fun to play. It’s nice to see people’s passion projects be displayed for others to see,” Jade Adele, a business major from Fort Worth, said.
