The Golden Suns softball team opened their fall season home on Oct. 2 against Eastern Oklahoma. After six innings, they took a 5-0 win.

The first inning was quick, with Tech batting first and Eastern Oklahoma refusing to let them take a base. The Golden Suns retaliated in the bottom of the inning with two strikeouts by Maddy Prough, a senior from Bella Vista, and a caught fly ball to first.

The Golden Suns gained some speed in the second inning after gaining a triple and scoring an RBI. Tech would not allow Eastern Oklahoma to level the scoreboard and instead retaliated with two strikeouts by Prough and a caught fly ball to right field.   The Golden Suns would close the inning with a 1-0 lead.

Tech progressed their lead in the top of the third inning to 3-0 after an over-the-fence home run scored two runs. Eastern Oklahoma attempted to make a comeback, but another strikeout and two caught fly balls would eliminate their opportunity.

The Golden Suns once again scored another run off an over-the-fence home run, progressing the score to 4-0 in the top of the fourth inning. Once Tech took the field, they quickly shut Eastern Oklahoma down with a double play and an additional strikeout by Prough.

Tech would get a couple of runners on base through two walks, but neither would score a run. The Golden Sun’s defense held firm in the bottom of the fifth inning, refusing Eastern Oklahoma to score any runs.

In the final inning, the Golden Suns were able to score one more run off a single and RBI, bringing the final score to 5-0

The Golden Suns softball team will play again at home on Oct. 7.
