The Golden Suns cross country team is wrapping up their season after competing exceedingly well in four meets.

They showed their potential on Sept. 3, after finishing third out of 15 in the Memphis Twilight Classic. They then dominated in the Harding Invitational on Sept. 16, finishing first out of seven teams.

The Golden Suns went on to compete at the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 30 where they placed 13th out of 19. The Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallop made for their most recent meet, and they finished with a strong second place out of 17.

While the Golden Sun’s placing speaks well of their success this season, the gap between their first and fifth place scorers emphasize how well they perform. The cross country team’s average gap time is only 30 seconds, showing how well they compete as a team.

Calli Beshore, junior from Nevada, Missouri, and Marci Cudworth, sophomore from Mountain Home, have led the team in multiple meets. Cudworth has an impressive personal record of 18:33.6 and Beshore with a personal record of 18:26.9. Mary Beth Bailey, sophomore from Jonesboro, and Ashlynn Mays, junior from Flower Mound, Texas also tend to finish in the front pack.

The Golden Suns will have the opportunity to continue running well as a pack and look for more personal records at the GAC Championship on Nov. 5 at Shawnee Oklahoma.
